What Causes A Bump On The Lip After A Fall?

Hi, I fell and split my lip open about six weeks ago. There are still 13 resorbable sutures inside my lip. The others have all been removed already. Even after 6 weeks I still feel like the bump in my lip is not changing at all. How long can I expect to wait until my stitches start to dissolve?
Thank you!
Danelle :)

Hi.
Thanks for the query..

A bump in the lip post injury can be a Hematoma that has occurred due to rupture of small blood vessels during injury..
Other cause can be soft tissue overgrowth..
Do not worry if it is a Hematoma it will resolve gradually..
You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over it..
In case if it is soft tissue overgrowth then it will remain as it is but is harmless..
If it causes any discomfort or aesthetic problem consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
