What Causes A Bump On The Rectum?

I discovered on Saturday morning (Nov 19) a bump near my rectum. It burst that afternoon oozing a brown smelly liquid ( smells like feces). I have a hemorrhoid so I thought the brown liquid was coming from the hemorrhoid; not the case as about 15 minutes ago I went to urinate, pulled down my underwear to discover smelly increased leakage. When I wiped brown substance is on the paper. Asked my husband to put some more ointment (Mupirocin) on the sore and hemorrhoidal cream on the hemorrhoid. He confirmed that the brown substance was oozing from a new sore. Please advise. What could this be.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms can be related to a rectal fistula. A fistula is an abnormal passage between two internal organs.

I recommend you to avoid constipation. I suggest you take probiotics daily. If the symptoms continue I recommend consulting a surgeon for a specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
