What Causes A Child Not To Swallow The Saliva?

my 6 year old son started not swallowing his spit about a week ago. He wipes his spit on his shirt or washcloth. He has a bifold eluvia. When he was a toddler he drooled due to sensory issues and low muscle tone, he had over come this a few years ago. I don t know what to do with this sudden not wanting to swallow.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Sudden inability to swallow can be part of underlying throat infection return of previous neurologic issue through some infection flare up or else. There are all chances of aspiration pneumonia or sudden respiratory distress to the child and hence an ER visit is strongly recommended without any sort of delay.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
