What Causes A Crackling Sound While Breathing With Severe Cough?
When breathing, I can hear sounds like fluid being squeezed through a small opening after the end of my exhale. I have had a bad cough for a few days, and this morning I have started coughing up mucous. Does this mean I have fluid in my lungs, and should I see my doctor?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The sound you hear suggest respiratory passage narrowing that may be cuased by the mucous you are passing out. This symptoms with cough may be caused by a lung infection or any other upper respiratory infection. Most of these infections are caused by viruses and symptomatic treatment will do.However, bacteria infection or superinfection are possible and will need antibiotics.I will suggest you try the following: -Take a mucolytic like carbocysteine 5% syrup -Take an antihistamine like premalan -Drink enough fluids -Avoid cold, dust and smoke. If the symptoms persist, you may see a Doctor for examination and a chest X-ray to look for a lung infection. Hope this will help Regards
