What Causes A Dark Blood Blister On The Labia Majora?

I have a dark purple spot that looks like a blood blister at the top of my vagina. It is located a little to the left at the top in the crease of my vagina. Just wondering what it could be. It is a little sore to touch but other than that no real discomfort.

It could be Bartholin's cyst. However, as it is tender to touch, please consult further with a gynaecologist and run PAP smear testing to rule out more serious issues.
