What Causes A Dark Brown Discharge During Pregnancy?

I am 29 years old, 5'11" and 155lbs. I have no other health problems and I am 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. I have had a dark brown discharge for 3 days now. It comes and goes and is only on the toilet paper when I wipe. I have had no cramps but don't really have any other pregnancy symptoms either. Can this be normal?

Hello,
Some amount of pinkish vaginal discharge is observed often at the time of implantation and this corresponds to the time of the expected period. This is a fresh bleed which occurs as the embryo buries into the wall of the uterus. Apart from this, no other bleeding is observed at this stage and if this happens, it is definitely abnormal. Please inform your health care provider and ask for a clinical review along with a sonogram, if needed. Please take adequate rest and avoid stress in any form, including sexual intercourse. Hope this helps.
