What Causes A Deep Hole In The Tonsils?
Hello, I was wondering if it is dangerous to have a deep, tiny, holw in one of your tonsils? I used to be a smoker but I am not sure it is due to smoking. From time to time, white stuff comes out of this hole; however, it does not always have white stuff in it, only sometimes. The hole never goes away though. It gives me no pain, it is not even annoying, but it is always there this deep very tiny hole. I have no idea what it is, and it doesn t look like a tonsil crypt, it is seriously a hole(as if I punctured my tonsil or something) and only sometimes when i apply pressure beside it white stuff comes out but now I think it is food that gets caught in it. I do not believe it is a crypt though, it is a hole...is this dangerous? I am 23 years old, and I used to smoke.

As per the description you have mentioned and detailed, the hole in tonsil which gives out white material on pressure is a crypt of the tonsil. Another possibility is tonsillar cyst that is connected to outside and the cyst producing the secretions which on contraction gives out while material.
The white material is called a tonsillolith and there is no specific treatment other than removal of tonsil.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon for an actual examination.
CT scan or MRI will show whether there is any cyst and if present then only you can go for tonsillectomy other wise just wait and watch.
Removal of the secretions from time to time will not allow for tonsillolith to form.
No need to worry at the moment.
