What Causes A Delayed Menstrual Period While On Folic Acid Pills?

So I started taking folic acid pills the week before the 14th of July. I was supposed to be starting my regular planned period the next week. And I did. But when my period came around I got very sick, Puking and diarrhea. My cycle usually hits pretty hard, so I figured this was just a harder hit. I got over being sick the day after I started my period. I usually have a normal cycle of 21-26 days. That has been consistent for 5 years. I am now 2 weeks late on my period. I am 16 years old and was wondering if folic acid would have any affect on it because that is all that I have changed from my normal routine. Hope you can help! Thanks lots!
