What Causes A Delayed Period After Intercourse?

we had sex on 9 jan 2011. we are little doubtful that whether during intercourse sperm fell inside or not. on 11 jan she suffered from period and yesterday also her period date was due but she is telling she is not having the pain and bleeding is just to nil.only 2,3drops yesterday. kindly let us know what to do?
