What Causes A Delayed Period With Negative Pregnancy Test?

My periods are normally very regular, but I am 12 days late. I took 2 pregnancy tets yesterday- both negitive. I have all the symptoms of PMS, but no cycle start. I was ill with the flu during Christmas- and bronchitus. Do you think this has anything to do with my lateness? Any other ideas?
