What Causes A Dent Between Shoulder Blades Causing Pain In Back And Chest?

I have a dent in my back between my shoulder blades and within the past year I've been having pain that shoots in my back and my chest. I fell a year ago last december (twisted at the torso and back muscles spasmed.) How can I fix or deal with this better than taking Ibuprofen and tylenol?
