What Causes A Dent In The Shin Post Injury?

So, I wrecked an ATV a few weeks back and it rolled over on top of me. Luckily I only had minor injuries... one of which was my entire right shin from ankle to the bottom of my knee was bruised and swollen. Now the swelling and most of the bruising has gone down but I have a big dent in my shinbone that I could hide a AAA battery in... I can put weight on in and it doesn t bother me much unless it s touched or bumped. Is this a fracture in the bone or what s actually going on here?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* Indent over shin can be compression of the area above bone surface or bony involvement itself.

* I strongly suggest to get an X-ray of the shin done and confirm the same without delay.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
