Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My finance was just told he had two hernias one baseball size rt. l.abd. the other below sternum at the base of a previous stomach surgery. Larger than a golf ball in size. He also wears a C Pap at night but I have noticed when I lay my hand on his back I can feel the rattling in his lower lungs. He also sweats profusely. Is having dizzy and weakness spells. He saw a Dr. today who wants a chest x ray and a breathing test. I am very concerned, my father had pancreatic cancer and my uncle had lung cancer, both lived short period, so I have seen these symptoms before, however, he does not have cancer in his family history. I need to remain positive. I do know the knots are hernias, he has apt with surgeon next week but very concerned with the other symptoms. Can you ease my mind...............
There is no need to get confused and worry. No need to mixing up hernias and cancer. There is nothing like double hernia. Also, if there is positive family history of cancer then, there is a chance that the next generation will not have cancer. There is a significance of family history of cancer but there is no 100 percent correlation.
Therefore, with regard to hernia, one is below sternum after surgery so it is incisional hernia and the other is right side hernia. These are curable. You just need to get another surgery done. Right lumber mass needs to be diagnosed first. The last thing is CPAP. For this, you have to show some concern. Get a regular checkup for this and the rest will be followed up by your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
