What Causes A Dry Patch Of Skin On The Upper Throat?

I have a dry patch in the back of my soft pallet. I ve been to the ENT 3 times and he says its scar tissue from a tonsillectomy. I got my tonsils out when I was 12 years old. That was 40 years ago. Why would scar tissue show up now? It really bugs me.

Tonsillectomy scar may reside for a long time. But it would present since a few days after operation. Though white patch on palate may occur due to a lot of causes. Among which leukoplakia is the most complicated one. Other causes are oral candidiasis, lichen planus, chronic tobbaco use. If diagnosis is not made by clinically biopsy of the lesion helps the diagnosis. Proper diagnosis is necessary as this can be a premalignant lesion in nature.
