What Causes A Feeling Of Burning Smell That Causes Dizziness, Headache And Nausea?

At work only, but in several different offices now, I occasionally smell a burning smell (burning chemical smell) that makes me progressively more dizzy, worsening headache, and eventually nauseated. Several co-workers have confirmed the smell, I am the only one that has suffered any symptoms yet. It never happens at home or on the weekends.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of burning smell that causes dizziness, headache and nausea. The symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection, sinusitis and multiple sclerosis. The symptoms are probably related to sinusitis .Sometimes ear infection occur due to postnasal drip due to sinusitis. You should avoid bending forward , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily . I would suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication. Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI , blood test , audiometry test and ECG to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug, sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants, drain sinus and prescribe some ear aid or refer you to dentist for tooth infection .For now maintain personal hygiene , do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
