Hi, i have been told by my GP i have a post nasal drip. i do smoke and i am trying not too but i have, what feels like a massive lump in my throat and its really uncomfortable and running me down. is there any way of clearing this by myself. i dont really want to undergo any sort of operation. i have been taking the tablets, nose sprays, and now new steriod nose drips to clear it but nothing seems to work. also been gargling with salt water and using cavonia catarrh med. please help?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello, thanks for your query, feeling of lump due to post nasal drip secondary to sinusitis can be from thick mucus plug or reflux esophagitis from smoking, or something else . thick mucus can be managed by tab. Ambcet ( ambroxyl+ citrizine) one tab at bed time for 5 days, reflux esophagitis by antacids. other things should be evaluated by indirect laryngoscopes or xray neck or ct neck. kindly evaluate with an ent surgeon. all d best. take care.
