What Causes A Fluid Filled Red Bump On The Lower Lip?

I ve had chapped lips recently so I ve been drinking lots of water and I had a little split on my bottom lip. Recently that cut on my lip become a tingling red bump that s somewhat noticeable. When squeezed clear fluid came out. I ve refrained from touching it further as to not irritate it. I m worried I have a cold sore though.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that a fluid filled bump on lower lip with dry chapped lips can be pointing towards that you are suffering from a viral infection known as Oral Herpes caused be HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS 1 leading to formation of cold sores which are small fluid filled blisters.

If the discharge is pus then it can be due to bacterial infection..

You should consult a dermatologist and get evaluated and get viral culture and sensitivity testing done, Other investigations like Polymerase Chain Reaction etc can also be done..

In case if herpes is confirmed oral and topical antiviral therapy like Acyclovir therapy can be prescribed to you by the dermatologist to reduce the duration of present infection and get prevent further outbreaks..
Do cold packs over the lips to reduce inflammation and pain..
Apply thick coat or Petroleum jelly over the lips as it helps in lubricating the lips and locking of moisture..

If it is due to bacterial infection then antibiotic ointments can be advised..
