What Causes A Freckle To Change Color?

I have a very light freckle that turns deep purple overnight, then fades back over the next few days, to A very light freckle again, it reminds me of a blood blister on the first day, this has happened a few times before, any idea what May be happening?

If the color change is not persistent and the size of freckle remains the same, then you don't need to worry.
