Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter has what looks like bruising but not, on top of her right thigh. Resembles chain link fencing, Does not hurt. Not in flamed. Has grown in a weeks time. is under the skin so smooth to the touch. No fever, no signs of any sickness. It just showed up. No way to explain it. Wasn t hit, ( no trauma) healthy active kid. ( No sports)
Hello and welcome to HCM, The most common cause of bruise on thigh is trauma, however, there is no history of trauma. Bruises also occur in disorders of platelets and disorders of coagulation factors. Thus, a complete coagulation work up is required- bleeding time, clotting time, platelet count, PT and aPTT. The possible cause of bruising will be determined if there is any abnormality of coagulation pathway. Consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Thanks and take care DR Shailja Puri
