hi, my brother is 59 yrs old, on xray of his sinus they discovered a growth on his temporal bone, and have recommended surgury.. he had a mra and mri and doctor said surgury is the way to go.. how dangerous is the surgury to remove the growth and why cant they tell if malignant or not, from those tests?
Where is the exact location of growth? Is it in the maxillary sinus, intracranial or retro orbital?
It may be polypoidal mass or mucosal cyst or malignancy of sinuses etc. You need a biopsy to confirm benign or malignant tumor. Please consult with your treating doctor, he will do the biopsy if necessary and treat you accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
