Hello,
Hard painful lumps inside the tongue can be due to skin cysts, pimple / bump,
canker sore,
oral cancer, etc. Injury to the tongue during eating, eating food that causes
allergy, exposure to viruses and infections, salivary stones, etc. Addictions to tobacco, alcohol, etc may also cause oral infections and problems. Treatment and cure will depend on the pathology detected. Get biopsy, blood and MRI done at the earliest to detect any malignancy.
If the hard lump is benign, it can either be treated with antibiotics, therapy or removed by surgery if needed. If any malignancy is detected, it will be treated with a combination of conservative treatment &
chemotherapy. Take food that is bland so that it does not irritate the lump. Take care of your
oral hygiene. Quit addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
