What Causes A Itchy Rash That Raised Like A Welt On Leg?

I am a 20year old female. About a month ago, I spontaneously developed a rash on my leg. It was raised like a welt, and incredibly itchy. No amount of cortisone, calamine lotion, or neosporin, or anything else I tried help. I eventually scratched it into a scrape that healed over. Yesterday, the same kind of rash developed on my other leg, in a different place, and today, another is starting on my calf. It shows up quickly, grows quickly and is incredibly itchy, especially to the touch. It s not really red, just raised. It seems to be made of little bumps, which are also by themselves on a couple other places on my legs. I am attaching a photo

Hello,

You are suffering from a itchy rash turned welt on the leg. The same symptom has also affected the other leg. Little raised bumps are also appearing on the calf and they are itchy and uncomfortable. It looks like you are suffering from a skin condition, dermatographic urticaria in which scratch or slight pressure on the skin causes rashes and welts on skin. If you have sensitive skin, allergy is one of the main triggers of this skin condition. Stay away from dust, pollution, animal dander, fumes and pollen, etc. Allergy to some food like nuts, fish, synthetic foods, etc can also trigger symptoms.

People may also develop allergy from some kind of drugs and medication, fungal infections, allergy to some cosmetic products which also result in welts on skin. Avoid temperature change and emotional stress. Autoimmune disorders are also responsible for the appearance of itchy skin rashes. Do not touch, scratch, pop, rub the skin. These welts tend to remain on the skin for sometime and then disappear. In case they stay longer than a week.

Then get clinically examined by a dermatologist. You can take non sedating antihistamines for relief. Apply ointment hydrocortisone on the affected area to get rid of itching. If fungal infection is detected, take a course of anti-fungals (Fluconazole). Take care of your hygiene. In severe case, you will be advised to undergo ultraviolet radiation. Stay away from addictions if any.Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
