What Causes A Large Lump In The Upper Part Of The Thyroid?

Hi my mum is 75...she has a large lump in the upper part of the thyroid...it is actually palpable when you touch it, quite large...she s lost her voice for some time...her white cell count is up...I am worried she might have cancer...? Um....don t have money to pay...could you please still answer my question...? I d be very appreciative..
