What Causes A Large Lump Inside The Lip?

Hello, I have this large bump on the inside of my lip and it has been there for about 4 months. 3 months ago I went to a doctor and he said it looked like a busted blood vessel and not mouth cancer. But it still has not gone away. Can you offer any advice to what it might be?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. If it was a busted vessel, it would have been healed as it does not take 3 months to heal. So it is definitely not that. Also, a lump that is there for 4 months should not be ignored and must be treated.

It seems that you have developed a cyst in the area as the cyst can develop in the minor salivary glands present inside the lip. Alternatively, you will have to go for a biopsy for confirmed diagnosis regarding what the lesion is.

I advise that you should visit a dentist or oral surgeon for the clinical examination of the swelling and x-ray. If it is a cyst, then its surgical removal is advised. Other wise, biopsy report can decide the diagnosis and line of treatment.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
