What Causes A Large Red Bump In The Groin Area?

Hi. My name is Tonya and yesterday morning I found a bump in my groin area. Red, hard, painful. i thought it was a ingrown hair or a pimple. This morning when I woke up it has more than tripled it s size, is very hard and very painful. The skin is peeling due to the size of it. It looks like it has several heads that are beneath the surface. I am a diabetic with a compromised immune system due to a liver transplant in 2004. I really don t want to go to the ER if I don t have to. Is there something I can do at home to get it to drain?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hell,

* Sorry to say but you require doc assistance for prescription of antibiotics for its best recovery and prevent infection spread to surrounding areas.

Presently at home

- clean with antiseptic liquid

- apply polymycin cream 3 times a day

- avoid trauma or compression over the groin area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
