What Causes A Large Swollen Bruise Behind The Thigh?

I have a huge bruise on the back of my thigh. It is swollen and you can see and feel the swelling. I cannot sit or put pressure on it. I did it 2 days ago. I have been taking Advil, using ice and heat and keeping my leg elevated but also trying to walk on it. It does hurt to walk still. I have a flight tomorrow that is 5 hours. While I know it will not be comfortable no matter what, I am wondering if it is safe to fly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related a microtrauma. I suggest to continue using anti-inflammatory medication and ice compresses at the area of the swelling. If you don't have pain or hemorrhage three is no problem to fly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
