What Causes A Large Swollen Pimple Under The Lower Lip?
Hello, I recently got what I believed to be a pimple directly under my lower lip and within 24 hours my lip swelled to about 3 times its normal size. The pimple now is yellow and crusty with ozze coming out of it. I went to a doctor and was told to just apply a warm compress to the area. Is there anything else I can do to make it go away?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems that you have got a hair follicle infection and there is abscess formation leading to yellow crust and pus discharge or oozing..
As the infection is more only warm compresses will not resolve and you should take a short course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, clean the area with antiseptic solution and apply moderate pressure and drain off pus as it will help in faster healing.. After cleaning apply a Triple Antibiotic Ointment over it.. You should keep the area dry and clean.. Avoid touching the area repeatedly and also do not touch with bare hands as it can also cause spread of infection.. In case if there is no resolution in a week consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
