Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Left-sided Bump On The Neck While On Levothyroxine?
my thyroid test results is 4.85 is this good or bad or ? I ve been taking L-Thyroxine sodium 25mcg for about 6 yr ( no test sense that 1st one) Now Dr. has upped my meds to L-Thyroid 50mcg. I have always been tired, lost hair, can t seem to get warm in the winter. since starting new dosage a week ago I have a marble size bump on the left side of my neck and feels like a another small marble in my throat.
TSH 4.85 is in the normal range (it normally is 0.5-5 with small variations from lab to lab). Lumps in the neck can be lymphnodes or if they are over the thyroid they can be thyroid lumps. I would advice you to have it checked with your doctor to determine if it seems like a lymphnode or a thyroid lump.
If it is a lymphnode but under 2 cm in size it just needs monitoring. If it gets more then 2 cm in size or is hard to touch or rough then it needs further investigations. If it is thought to be a thyroid lump then a thyroid ultrasound might be needed to confirm it and other tests that evaluate the thyroid might follow.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
