Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Lump Below The Penis After An Abdominal Surgery?
the first of January I had sugery for a gist tumor on small intestine. I waited till now to do any strenuous work. today I lifted several things that weighed 40 to 60 lbs. while taking a shower I saw that there was quite a soft bulge from the base of my penis and half way down. it is not sore. I am afraid I may have a hernia because the scar from my surgery basically ends just above the penis.
As per my clinical experience, the surgery of the abdomen for giant tumor of the intestine will be having paramedian or midline vertical incision.
So the chances of lump below penis are remote via this incision.
Rather than there sounds much possibility of orchitis or else giving swelling from the base of the penis and down. It is recommended to undertake a clinical examination with your surgeon and let him or her decide need of ultrasound for the diagnostic approach.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
