What Causes A Lump In Between The Head And Shoulder?

I jumped to try and touch the basketball net and pulled the left side of my neck. It became quite sore the following days and I found a round lump on my neck halfway between my head and shoulder. It does not hurt to push on it but my neck is still sore. What is the lump and when should I expect it to dissipate?

Hi,

Noted your history about trying to touch the basketball net followed by soreness of left side of neck and developed a lump in a midway between the head and shoulder, not painful. Wants to know the cause.
The sudden movement of muscles can cause the sprain or strain on the muscles with resultant edema or a lump composed of collection of blood called hematoma.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor to get a clinical evaluation, examination and order for tests of blood, Ultrasonography of abdomen to see for any hematoma or collection of serum.
Once the diagnosis is done then it is easy for proper management.
Till then take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen.
Take rest so that the muscle sprain settles well.
Rest of the treatment as guided by your Doctor.
