What Causes A Lump In The Tongue With Blister On The Underside?

Hi

My little girl (8) had a bubble/growth on the bottom of her tongue. The doc looked at it and said we should wait and see if it goes away by itself in the next two weeks before we consider surgery. The growth became less visible but now there is a lump inside her tongue and I am so worried – should I wait to see if this goes away or should I see an ENT asap?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain a bubble like lump under the surface of the tongue can be a Mucocele which is formed due to either clogged duct of salivary gland or due to ruptured duct of salivary gland leading to formation of a small lump known as Mucocele..

Mostly small mucoceles resolves themselves and do not need any treatment and you can make your daughter do concentrated salt water rinses for faster resolution of mucocele..

Other part of your question that you have noticed a small lump inside her tongue can be a cyst or an inflammatory swelling or hematoma secondary to tongue bite or injury..
It also resolves on its own and you can wait and watch for a week or ten days..
In case if still it does not resolve you can consult a Paediatric dentist known Pedodontist and get evaluated..
FNAC or biopsy can help in confirming the diagnosis so that treatment can be planned..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
