What Causes A Lump On The Head With Mild Headaches And Ear Pain?

4 weeks ago I had a very bad fall hitting my head on the top crown area. I had a huge lump for weeks, it has gone down now but a 4cm round area is numb. I noticed this week the area is now bald it is still sore. I have mild head aches and my left ear feels tender on the side of my face. I m really worried. I have seen my doctor twice, he tells my not to worry and that the fall was very nasty and it could take up to a year for the feeling to come back. I didn t have the hair loss/ bald spot last time I saw him. Should I see another doctor ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a hematoma. However, if you experience ear pain, possibilities like fractures of facial bones must be ruled out. Consult a general surgeon and plan for a CT scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
