What Causes A Lump On The Vaginal Wall?

I have vaery hard, dense nodule located on the posterior half of vaginal wall, about 2 inches in toward the left side wall which can be felt both rectally and vaginally...like it is located in the tissue making up the common wall. It has been there for a couple years. I was told when it was much smaller that it might be scar tissue. It is now very detectible and much more defined. It seems anchored within the tissue (it doesnt slide around). It is not rectocele, which i do have after 4 deliveries. I am 40 years old with no significant family history of any types of cancer. I have already tried to ask ob/gyns what it is, but am uncomfortable with the fact that they seem to dismiss it. Should i be worried and keep trying to get an answer in the face of the recent changes in presenration?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it should be evaluated as it is chronic and has changed character recently. Get a CT scan pelvis (lower abdomen) done and consult a gynecologist or surgical specialist. He may go for Biopsy and FNAC.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
