What Causes A Metallic Taste In Mouth And Chronic Cough?
I have a metallic tasting barking cough.I started with a cold, sore throat, runny nose 13 day ago. have had clear runny nose, no fever,The metallic taste and barking cough (increased cough) started last night. Have been taking Loratadine 10 mg, and alkaseltzer cold on and off. I don t feel too bad.
Your symptoms of barking cough and metallic taste can be due to either upper respiratory tract infection or it can also be due to seasonal allergies..
You can continue taking Loratidine and also you can take cough suppressant containing Dextromethorphan.. You can do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations to soothe the throat and relieve the cough.. Drink plenty of warm water..
Avoid taking any spicy or cold foods as it can exaggerate the cough.. You should also avoid excessive exposure to dust and pollutants..
See if it improves in 3-4 days, but in case if it worsen consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
