What Causes A Miscarriage During 10 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

I just had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. The last time I saw the heartbeat was 8 weeks 2 days. I m not sure when it died but it looked like the fingers/toes hadn t begun to form yet. Naturally, I m searching for answers. My question is, it was still in the sac, but the head/neck area was really long, appearing more than half the length of the body and stretched out. Nothing like what I ve seen when researching. What could ve caused this? In general, are there any visual clues as to what might ve gone wrong?
