What Causes A Occurrence Of Phleghm, Feel Of Something Hanging In The Throat?

my name is tony and im 28. for the past 13 /14 weeks,i keep having to clear my throat and each i time i bring out clear phleghm as it feels like theres something hanging at the back of my throat,sometime brownish. i recently noticed my adams apple is off centre-not sure if thats normal. i have had hoarse voice since this issue with my throat started. now getting excessively tired and feeling dizzy as well.sometime i feel like theres a lump in my throat. should i be worried ..cause when i told my friend and made joke about saying i might have throat cancer or cancer of some sought and now its really bugging me.

Hi dear ,

The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to post nasal drip . This sensation can be caused by excessively thick secretions or by throat muscle and swallowing disorders. It occur due to colds and flu , sore throat , allergies, cold temperatures,sinusitis certain foods/spices and other hormonal changes. Treatment depends upon treating underlying cause . In your case it seems to me that symptoms occur due to untreated sore throat . The infection ahs spread to larynx which is responsible for hoarseness of voice . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , virus culture test and blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) and decongestants. For now do warm saline gargles several times a day and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling .
