What Causes A Painful Blood Blister In The Hole Of Tooth Extraction?
I had a tooth pulled on October 31rst, I went to my dentist last week because I was still in pain, he said I had a little bit of dry socket so he put some kind of nasty tasting cream there, well now I have a blood blister right in the hole where my tooth was pulled, it's very painful and I can't get into the dentist until Tuesday, I'm afraid to eat because I'm afraid I will pop the blood blister. the dentist office couldn't answer any of my questions over the phone, is this normal, could it have something to do with me smoking?
As per your complain a blood blister in the extraction socket which did not heal and turned into dry socket is not normal and it can be probably due to infection. The socket..
The sedative dressing placed in the extraction socket has to be changed every alternate day and along with it a course of antibiotics and painkillers is also advised..
As you have severe pain you can take higher painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac.. You should also consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and he can do proper cleaning of the socket and continuously treat it every alternate day with sedative dressing to heal the socket faster..
Hope this helps..
