What Causes A Painful Bruise On The Knee After Injury?

I was playing basketball and when i came down I felt & heard a loud pop in my knee. there was a sharp pain. since then i have developed a large bruise on the out part of my upper calf and knee. I can walk but when i lift that leg to step there is pain behind my knee and it feels very tight.

any injury, depends on the impact severity bruise can occur. bruise is due to extravasation of blood, serous fluid,inflammmation triggered by. you may consult orthopaedic surgeon for X ray knee &needful.
