Hi, I have had water in my ear for the past five days, after going swimming. I flushed my ear with warm water and hydrogen peroxide and it seemed to help clear it, however now I have noticed a painful bump in the back of my ear. I am concern about mastioditis. Unfortunately, I don t have insurance....Help,thanks.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful bump at the back of the ear which is due to post auricular lymph node infection, acute mastoiditis, Postauricular Lymphadenitis and dermoid cyst.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you not to worry about it. You should visit ENT Specialist once and get investigation done by FNAC Biopsy. Start treatment after proper examination. You should take proper course of antibiotic as well. Avoid touching or pricking bumps wit sharp object. You can go for incision and drainage as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
