What Causes A Painful Discharge From The Left Nipple?

I have a pretty bad outbreak of what doctor called plaque eczema, but my main concern is oozing/pain in my left nipple. it is a continuous discharge, and somewhat painful, not sure what to do about it. it is yellowish, and my nipple is red and slightly swollen. I was prescribed prednisone for 2 weeks, which cleared up the eczema beautifully, but as soon as I stopped it came back, all over my back, my legs,my neck, and my left breast, with the oozing discharge from my nipple.

Hello,

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a common form of dermatitis (skin inflammation) that causes the skin to become itchy, red, swollen and painful. Symptoms can vary from a mild rash that disappears quite quickly to a more severe condition that’s present for a long time.

Potential causes of eczema are:
1. Factors that cause the skin to become dry, which in turn affects the skin's barrier function.
2. Genetic mutations that affect the skin's barrier function.
3. Immune system dysfunction causing an unwanted inflammatory response in the skin.

Treatment:
- Avoiding likely sources of irritation (triggers.)
- Using emollients such as special bath oils and moisturisers.

If symptoms not improved please consult your dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
