What Causes A Painful Hard Lump After Injecting Methamphetamine In Arm?
I inject ice in crook of arm and I always struggle to inject it correctly I think. My question is the last couple of times I ve injected, I immediately got a large hard lump at the site and burning..i have just had a hit and this lump is bigger and hard like bone and the burning is very bad..please advise.
This is probably a hematoma. Apply ice and give a compression dressing. If not getting down in few hours, or the area become red,hot or tender, kindly see your doctor to look for and treat any infection. Intravenous drug use is a dangerous practice. It can cause many complications like sepsis (blood infection), endocarditis (infection inside heart) and hepatitis B or HIV infection in case needles are shared. Lets try to get off this habit.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
