What Causes A Painful Hard Lump On The Back?

Hi I have a hard pea sized bump on my mid left side of my back (probably 2 inches left of my spine). In marchi found the bump, it is not painful to the touch and hasn t grown but it is hard and doesn t move, it is not attached to the skin above. What could it be

A painless lump on your back could be a lipoma or a cyst and less likely to be a keloid since not attached to the skin above.Other conditions like still to collect abscess can be eliminated since no pain.Most lumps and swellings under the skin are harmless and can be left alone if not in exposed areas.However, see a Doctor to examine the lump.
