What Causes A Painful Lump Near The Spine Of An Adolescent?
My seventeen year old daughter has a small bump under her skin near her spine. It only hurts when she applies pressure. There doesn t appear to be a puncture hole from a bite... It is not discolored or red, it does not hinder her sleep. Although it hurts when pressure is applied, it also feels numb similar to when your hand is asleep.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Your daughter seems to have minute injury to a peripheral nerve...which find a little bump..which is painful on pressure /gets numb sometimes.
Most of the time it resolves on its own within a few months. Anti inflammatory pills over the counter with bit. B12 pill taken for 8-10 days can hasten the healing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
