What Causes A Painful Lump On The Knee After Injury?

I fell a couple of hours ago on my knees. Now I have a goose egg on the left side of my left knee and it is painful. I am putting ice to it and I can bear weight, although the knee hurts. Do you think I need to go to tje ER or wait and see if it gets worse. Thankyou.

If the injury is severe & pain is unbearable you need to rule out a fracture by X-ray. Other wise just apply cold therapy & take rest you will be fine. You have not mentioned the cause of fall.And if you are quite old then x-Ray is a must.
