What Causes A Painful Lump On The Occipital Lymph Node?

Hi, can someone help? Iv got a hard bump on the left side of my head where my occipital lymph node is. I noticed it last night, thinking it was just a knot in my muscles, or something, and tried putting a heat pack on it. I woke up this morning to it hurting. I am a little worried as to what it could be.

It indicates that there might be having some infection in your scalp like boil, dermatitis.
Consult your doctor and get examined.
