What Causes A Painful Lump On The Shin Post An Injury?

Hi I fell down some steps 6 weeks ago. I caught the side of a step on my shin which came up in a large lump. I only just scraped the skin. I was expecting a bruise after it but there was very little. However 6 weeks on and it is still painful at times & the lump has only went down a little. Will it just go away on its own or should I get it checked out.?

Hello,

Lump over shin could be due to hematoma formation. Hematoma may take 5-7 days to resolve.

You can take your pain killer to relieve the pain. In case the swelling and pain does not settle down, then you may consult your primary health care provider.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
