What Causes A Painful Lump On The Vein?

I had brain surgery in 2005. They, Of course had to put an iv in my wrist. Every since the surgery I have had some pain there. They tell me it is damaged tissue. Recently there is a lump it seems, right on the vein, and it is painful. Should I see my doctor, or??

Formation of lump after intravenous medication is not unusual.Some amount of leakage of blood takes place from the vein around the puncture site. It will resolve in due course of time.
