Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Four days ago I began to feel soreness in the right side neck lymph node area. the following day the swelling was so bad that the right side of my face was numb to the touch and it felt as though several molars had been displaced and I could not bite or even close my jaw all the way. this has been accompanied by an immense pressure headache
the pain has been manageable only with three excedrine at a time night and day since, the swelling seems to have abated somewhat but I still feel a numb/tingling along my jaw and most of my teeth on the right side as well as tactile numbness of the cheek and neck.
It appears like severe inflammation of the lymph nodes on the right side of neck and in case if there is problem in biting and closing the jaw too then can be probably related to any deeply decayed tooth..
Infection in lymph nodes or infection in the salivary gland can also be the cause of your symptoms..
So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get a thorough clinical examination done and along with it an x ray or ultrasound should also be done for further confirmation..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin along with anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil, Aleve etc and if the swelling is severe a steroid shot can also be given.. Also do cool compresses over the swelling.. Although eating can be painful but do not starve and take more of liquids and semi-solid foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
