What Causes A Painful, Raised Yellow Pus Oozing Area On The Knee?

hi i fell asleep downstairs last night and had a small pain on my left knee but didn't chek i woke up this morning and the pain is still there, its slightly raised and has a red ring around it i squooze it and a clear yellow pus came out. the size is about three centimeters squared.
