What Causes A Painful Red Bump With A Hole Above The Nipple?

I have a painful red bump with a black hole in the middle above my left nipple, close to my cleavage. The red spot itself is about the size of a pea, but around it is a lump a little bigger than a quarter. It started out looking like a pimple, but then it started getting painful with the black hole in the middle. I m wondering if this is something serious I should get checked out. Please help!

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
The symptoms you describe may be caused by breast conditions like mastitis, breast abscess or more serious conditions like breast cancer.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination and work-ups.You may need an infectious work-up(CRP/ESR,Full blood count), breast ultrasound and a mammography.
Your management will depend on the identifies cause. You may however take a pain drug like ibuprofen if pain is serious.
Hope my answer will help you
Wish you a speedy recovery
